Crafted in a beautifully classic Rhône style, this Syrah boasts a complex and attractive bouquet of oriental spices, pronounced violet, and distinct white pepper. The nose is highly perfumed, brimming with pure red fruit aromatics. On the palate, it is exceptionally well-balanced and elegant, offering savory, spicy overtones that carry through to a long, lingering finish. While it is highly approachable and enjoyable now, it has the structure to develop and mature gracefully over the next decade.
The savory and peppery notes of this Syrah make it a phenomenal food wine. It pairs beautifully with roasted or grilled red meats, making it the perfect match for a classic roast leg of lamb with rosemary, grilled ribeye steak, or a hearty venison stew. For vegetarian options, it shines alongside earthy flavors like wild mushroom risotto, roasted eggplant, or a platter of mature, hard cheeses and artisanal charcuterie.
This premium Syrah is produced from estate vineyards (clones SH 99 and SH21) with a deliberate focus on quality, keeping yields to a moderate 6 tons per hectare. The grapes are carefully harvested by hand and fermented naturally using only indigenous yeasts. Following alcoholic fermentation, the wine undergoes 11 days of skin contact to build texture and complexity, with malolactic fermentation taking place in the barrel. Finally, it is gently matured for 14 months in 225-liter French oak barrels (10% new) and bottled with minimal filtration to ensure its authentic character remains completely intact.
